WhyDee has burst onto the scene as one of the most exciting and multi-talented artists of his generation.
A British-born, Nigerian/Jamaican Gen Z talent from North West London, WhyDee is a rapper, producer, sound engineer, streamer, actor and viral content creator who has built a rapidly growing career across music, entertainment and digital culture.
His debut single, Jack In The Box, has surpassed 4.5 million streams across digital streaming platforms, while the accompanying music video has generated over 2.5 million views. Uniquely, WhyDee debuted the video on his own YouTube channel and released the audio independently without paid advertising a bold move that demonstrated the strength of his social influence, loyal fanbase and ability to turn attention into music audiences.
Through his viral content, WhyDee has generated billions of views across social platforms, with his content regularly reaching millions of viewers. Also known as Charva 2, he played a key role in the viral Band 4 Bandphenomenon, which generated over 500 million TikTok views, millions of creations and streams, and helped demonstrate his ability to influence culture beyond his own platforms.
But WhyDee’s ability goes far beyond content.
A completely self-taught producer and engineer, his relationship with music started unusually young. At just 11, WhyDee took on the challenge of rebuilding his mum’s recording studio from scratch, piecing together equipment and teaching himself through YouTube tutorials. He spent days locked away working on it until he completed the studio, motivated by wanting his mum to be able to return to making music.
That experience sparked an obsession with production and engineering. WhyDee went on to spend countless hours in the studio, producing and engineering for family and friends while developing his own sound and technical ability. His work eventually expanded into professional radio, commercials and music production, including engineering work for Sony Music at 17.
That technical foundation now plays a major role in his own music. WhyDee doesn’t simply perform his records — he understands how to build them. From songwriting and hooks to cadence, delivery, production and engineering, he is involved across the creative process, giving his music a level of control and polish that sets him apart from many artists within the UK New Gen.
His versatility has also seen him work across major campaigns and creative projects with brands including Apple, Spotify, Wireless, Marc Jacobs, boohooMAN, Tommy Hilfiger, The Premier League and Wingstop, while creating content around some of the biggest names in music and entertainment, including Central Cee, Asake, Tion Wayne, Lil Baby, Stormzy, Skepta, Hedex, Chase & Status and Lil Tjay, among many others.
Born and raised in North West London, WhyDee’s connection to entertainment began from an early age. He started appearing in television commercials at just two years old and later trained at the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School, developing a natural ability in front of the camera alongside his work behind it.
In October 2024, WhyDee and his content collective The Charvas took their talents to The O2 Arena, opening for US rapper Lil Tjay. He has also performed at Reading & Leeds Festivals and featured as one of the faces of the 2024 Wireless Festival advertising campaign.
His music has continued to build alongside his digital career, with tracks including PRONTO, Cut Ties and KIKI gaining attention from audiences and industry tastemakers. WhyDee has been named “One to Watch” by GRM Daily, DJ Semtex and Kenny Allstar, further establishing his position as an artist to watch.
Now entering his next chapter, WhyDee returns with Bonjour — an infectious UK rap record combining sharp lyricism, confident delivery, catchy hooks and polished production. The record explores growth, ambition, where he has come from and leaving the past behind, while a sharper second verse introduces clever wordplay and subtle shots that are already giving listeners plenty to talk about.
With over 1,500 TikTok recreations building around the record ahead of release, WhyDee continues to demonstrate his ability to turn music into moments and moments into culture.
